Jens Johannessen (b.1934) is one of post-World War II generation’s most important Norwegian contemporary artists, who is particularly aware of the painting’s history and its possibilities. He has developed his own artistic language in a transitional period in art history, a period between what has been defined as modern and post-modern art.
